SPC Eric S. McKinley was 24 years old at the time of his death. He attended school at Keizer Elementry in Salem, OR, then, Philomath High School in Philomath,OR. He was engaged to be married upon his return home from Iraq. He was in the 'Stop Loss Order' and had completed his six year commitment to the Oregon National Guard on April 1, 2004.

He had many friends, and was a baker at Alpine Bakery in Corvallis, OR. He liked tatoos and body peircing besides beer and Irish Celtic Music.

His Memorial Service was at Starker Arts Park in Corvallis, Oregon on June 26, 2004. There were 500 - 600 people in attandence, including two soldiers injured in the same attack that ended Eric's life. His friends at the Oregon National Guard participated in what was an amazing and beautiful ceremony that included full military honors with a fly over in the Missing Man Formation and a 21 gun salute. There was a lone bagpiper. Eric was also friends with a fireman that arranged for a ladder truck with a 911 flag flying high at the ceremony. The Vetran's Motorcycle Club and the Corvallis Police were escorts for the families drive from the Armory to Starker Arts Park. His friends from the Irish Celtic band, Amadan, played his favorite music, which made the ceremony very personal.

This is a young man that will never be forgotten. I know, because I'm his mom.
