VERSAILLES - Betty G. Sides, 80, of Versailles died Thursday, June 2, 2005, at her home following a lengthy illness.

She was born Jan. 24, 1925, in Versailles, the daughter of Fred O. and Garnet Myers Thornberry. She married Robert G. Sides in 1946 in Versailles.

Mrs. Sides graduated from Versailles High School in 1942 and attended Western Illinois Teachers College in Macomb. She was a homemaker, worked for Hertzberg New Method Book Bindery in Jacksonville and as a clerk for the Versailles Grocery Store for several years.

She was a former member of Versailles Methodist Church and attended the Versailles Christian Church.

Survivors: husband, Robert; three daughters, Marilyn (husband, James) Rausch and Beverly (husband, Robert) Engelbrecht, both of Versailles, Patti (husband, Joe) Stephenson of Jacksonville; son, Charles R. (wife, Georgianna) Sides of Meredosia; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Cremation rites will be accorded.

Graveside services: 1 p.m. Saturday, Versailles West Side Cemetery, the Rev. Lane Ransdell officiating.

Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling is in charge of arrangements.
