Mike Molloy of Avon died November 14 in Hendricks Regional Health at Danville. He was 72.
Born July 11, 1938, in Indianapolis, he was the son of John P. and Grace Wagner Molloy. He married Bonnie Gardner on September 1, 1990, at Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Danville. She survives.
Mr. Molloy graduated from Cathedral High School in 1956, was a National Guardsman, and earned his bachelor's degree in chemistry from Indiana Central University.
He worked as an organic chemist in research and development for Eli Lilly & Co. for 34 years, retiring in 1993. He coached many youth sports for his children, was a past member of the Prestwick Golf Club, a member of the Danville Optimist Club, St. Susanna Catholic Church, attended Plainfield United Methodist Church, and was a 10-year volunteer for the Ronald McDonald House in Indianapolis.
Also surviving are his children, Pete (Debbie) Molloy, Molly (Chris) Joll, Mike (Jay) Molloy, Tom (Shannon) Molloy, John (Paula) Molloy, Kevin Molloy, Lee (Daphne) Mitchell, Stephanie (Bob) Carpenter, and Nancy Mitchell; sisters Sister Marie Grace Molloy, SP and Gertie (Thad) Andrews; and 14 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of 27 years, Patty Sage Molloy, and siblings Kathleen Crayton, John E. Molloy, and Patrick Molloy.
A memorial Mass is scheduled for 7 p.m. Nov. 19 in St. Susanna Catholic Church, Plainfield, with visitation from 4 p.m. until the Mass.
