Helgard Lore Spaethe Achen, beloved wife, mother and grandmother was called to the side of the Holy Father to live in Eternal Salvation on Saturday, July 18, 2009. Helga, as she was known by all who knew her, was born in Schoenfeld, Germany, on March 20, 1942.
In 1959, she met her loving, devoted husband, Arnold "Arnie", in Regensburg, Germany, while he was stationed there with the US Army. They were married on June 8, 1962. Over the next two decades, they traveled the world and raised a family while Arnie continued to serve his country. In 1978 an assignment to TEAD brought Helga and her family to Tooele.
Helga was employed as a civil servant for the US Air Force from 1981 until she retired in 2006. She lived an active life, loved to travel, and relished the outdoors; especially fishing, camping, and gardening.
Helga is survived by her husband Arnie, her children: Harald (Kim), Wayne, Patricia, Donna (Gerald) Howsden, Rhonda (John) Barnklau; grandchildren Victoria, Matthew, Jennifer, Lauren, Nicholette, Lore, Casey, Dylan and Kyle; her brother Alfred; her sisters: Irmgard, Edelgard, Gertrude, Edith, Lotte, Elli, and Christa. She is preceded in death by her parents Max and Marta Spaethe, and her brother Gotthard.
