Marcus H. Gruendemann, 87, Algoma, died Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at home. He was born July 4, 1924 in Madison, WI to Otto and Bertha Gruendemann. Marcus served in the US Army and the US Coast Guard. After his discharge he married Marie E. Blazkovec in Manitowoc on June 25, 1955. Marcus worked at Peterson Builders, Inc. as a Master Planner for 34 years. His faith in God was very important to him. He was a Sunday School Teacher at St. Paul's Lutheran Church for 28 years. He consider it a great honor to teach the word of the Lord! He said his greatest gift was his wife and four daughters. Marcus was an Alderman for the City of Algoma for two terms and was a member of the American Legion Post 236. Marcus is survived by his wife of 56 years, four daughters; one granddaughter; four sisters, one brother and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister. Visitation at the SCHINDERLE FUNERAL HOME, Algoma, on Friday, June 15, 2012. American Legion service at 5:30 p.m. with funeral service to follow at 6 p.m. with Rev. John Moll officiating. Full Military Rites at the funeral home after services. Private family burial to follow at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery.
