After an illness covering most of a period for the last five years, John W. Anders died at his home in this city Wednesday night, August 16, 1916, at the age of 76 years, 4 months. He has been a resident of Dawson county for the past sixteen years, and since he became in feeble health, his son Jesse M. and wife have been living with him. Mr. Anders was born near Zanesville, Muskingum county, Ohio, April 16, 1840. He enlisted Aug. 22, 1862, in Company A, 122 Ohio volunteer infantry and served during the war of the rebellion until his discharge June 26, 1865. Soon after the war he was married to Maria Barringer. There were eight children all of whom, with his wife, survive him. The children are Jesse M. and Joseph A. Anders of Lexington, Mrs. Laura B. Williams of Maryville, Mo., Mrs. Amanda Rinehart of Hastings, Neb., Mrs. Lizzie Briggs of Kansas City, Mo., Mrs. Jennie Holman of Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. Emma Brown of Northport, Neb., and Chas. T. Anders of Lewellen, Neb. Funeral arrangements are pending word from Mrs. Holman of Los Angeles. Interment may be at Hastings.
