Married Marion Balch
Howard L. Allen Sr., 76, of Railroad Street died Thursday at an Ocala, Fla., hospital.
A native of Ricard, Mr. Allen was a life resident of the Altmar area and had spent winters in Florida since 1988. He was owner and operator from 1976 to 1986 of the Salmon River Inn in Altmar and retired in 1982 after 30 years as a heavy equipment operator. He was a graduate of Altmar High School.
Mr. Allen was a member from 1952 to 1996 of Local 546, International Union of Operating Engineers. He was a member of Russell Tryon Post 1435, American Legion, the Ricard Grange and several Pulaski bowling leagues. He was a former member of Amboy Lodge 650, F&AM.
Surviving are his wife, Marion J.; two sons, Howard L. Jr. of Altmar and Ronald T. of Hastings; two daughters, Sandra M. Bull and Patricia P. Sams, both of Williamstown; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Spring graveside services will be in Fairview Cemetery, Williamstown.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Foster-Hax Funeral Home, 52 Park St., Pulaski.
Contributions may be made to the Northern Oswego County Ambulance.
