Norma Jean (McGowan) Tooles
(January 14, 1960 - May 18, 2013)

Norma Jean (McGowan) Tooles, of Universal City Texas, passed peacefully from this chapter of life and was welcomed home on Saturday, 18 May, 2013. The second child of Atlas and Mary McGowan of Princeton Kentucky, she was born on January 14, 1960 in Princeton, Caldwell County, Kentucky. Norma accepted Jesus Christ as her personal and loving Savior at an early age. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, niece, great aunt, cousin, God Mother and friend to all of God's children.

Norma graduated from Caldwell County High School in 1978. She later attended Western University before entering the United States Air Force. Upon completion of Technical Training at Keesler Air Force Base (AFB), Biloxi, Mississippi she was assigned to the Consolidated Base Personnel Office at Randolph AFB TX. She continued her education and obtained an Associates of Applied Science degree in Business Administration through the Community College of the Air Force. She had several other assignments while assigned at Randolph AFB to include Headquarters (HQ) Air Training Command, Officer Command Selection Records Division and several positions at HQ Air Force Personnel Center Rated Officer and Bomber Assignments Division. Norma completed a 12 month tour of duty at Osan AB South Korea I n 1997. She also attended the Non-commissioned Officer (NCO) leadership school as well as the NCO Academy in residence. Her final assignment was at Brooks AFB Texas at the School of Aerospace Medicine as a member of the Commanders' Support Staff. She retired from the Air Force on 1 August 1986.

She is survived by her husband of 23 years William Tooles, her parents Atlas and Mary McGowan, sister Melba McGowan of Princeton Kentucky, a brother Danny McGowan of Paducah, Kentucky. She was preceded in death by a son Reed William Tooles. Norma is also survived by her niece Nicole McGowan and two great nieces Kyla and Chevy, a nephew David McGowan and niece Daniella McGowan. Her surviving in –laws include Michael Tooles, Detroit Michigan, Valerie and George Owens, Inkster Michigan, Tonya and Glenn Kirkbride, Tucson Arizona, nieces LaTisha Ann Beard and Brittney Owens, nephews Vincent Tooles, Austin and Zachary Pineda. She also leaves behind great nieces Shakera and Shakira Owens of Inkster Michigan.

Norma Jean will be deeply and sincerely missed by every soul and life she touched. She was a selfless Angel who cared and shared her love, empathy, and generosity among us with uncommon humility and grace.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 24, 2013 from 5:00PM to 9:00PM at Schertz Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 9:30AM Saturday, May 25, 2013 at Schertz Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston Nation Cemetery. Anyone so desiring may make a Memorial Contribution to a charity of choice.
