Evelyn Bailey Toney, 88, of Jacksonville, FL passed away on July 25, 2012 at home surrounded by her family.
She was born in Beckley, WV, to the late John L. and Laura Phipps Bailey.
Evelyn married Gunter Toney in 1944 and then accompanied him to several U.S. Naval stations.
After moving to Tallahassee, Evelyn worked for the Florida State Legislature, and then as a legal secretary for her husband Gunter for 32 years.
Evelyn enjoyed traveling within the US and Europe but her greatest joys in life were her family and church. She has been a member of East Hill Baptist Church in Tallahassee since 1955, and a charter member of the Mary Lou Tindall Sunday School class.
Evelyn and Gunter moved from Tallahassee to Jacksonville in 2004 to be closer to family.
[She was] preceded in death by her son, David Toney.
The Funeral Service was held at East Hill Baptist Church in Tallahassee, with Pastor Dan Sowell as Officiant. Interment was at Tallahassee Memory Gardens.
