Aunt Catie Ray passed away at her home in Havana, Sunday, April 4, 1948 at the age of 71. Mrs. Ray was born at Waveland on March 3, 1871 and had lived at or near Havana all her life. He was member of the Havana Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star at Havana.

Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon by Rev. Charles Finch at the Havana Baptist Church. The large crowd in attendance and the exceptional array of beautiful flowers were mute testimony of the devotion of her many friends throughout the country.

She is survived by her husband, J. F. Ray; four daughters, Mrs. Lotta Ray Black and Mrs. R. L. Welch both or Danville and Miss Ola and Lora Ray, both of the Home; two brothers, A. A. Scott of Waveland and F. F. Scott of Ft. Smith; and two granddaughters and three grandsons. Interment was in Havana cemetery. Brother and Sister Ray have been members of the Havana Baptist Church for years and words cannot express the loss to our church. A sweet singer of Israel has gone to join the Heavenly Choir. We as Christians look forward to singing the song of the redeemed with her in that great resurrection morning.
