HEAT IS BLAMED FOR LEWIS CHANLEY'S DEATH

Louis W. Chanley, 37, a native of Dubois county and veteran of World War II, died unexpectedly at his home in Louisville Saturday afternoon.

Mr. Chanley was employed by a floral firm in Louisville, in which city he had lived for the past eight years. While he had been under a doctor's care for some time, he was able to continue his work.

At 2:30 Saturday afternoon he suddenly became very ill. A doctor who attended him said he had apparently been overcome by the extreme heat. Two hours later, he died.

Surviving are the wife, the former Rozella Lane; five children, Mary Ann, Jerry Lee, Elwyne, Wilford and Larry Gene;, the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Chanley, Sr., R. 3, Huntingburg; five sisters, Mrs. Lorena Potts, Crestview, Ky., Mrs. Sylvia Perry, Mt. Carmel, Ill., Mrs. Ethel Bilotta, Brooklyn, N.Y., Mrs. Edna Durbin, Columbus, O., and Mrs. Elma Abel, R. 3, Huntingburg; two brothers, Ratar of R. 4, Loogootee, and Joseph, Jr., of Jasper, and two stepchildren.

The body is being brought today to the Schumutzler Funeral Home in Jasper, where friends may call after 6 this evening. Services will be held in the mortuary at 1 pm Tuesday by the Rev. A.E. Kalkwarf of Christ Church at Haysville, followed by burial in the Chanley cemetery at Birdseye.
