His birth month and year came from the 1900 census.
The following information can from his 98 page Service Record. He was a Private in Co.K, Regiment 25 ME Inf.(Maine Vols.)enlisted at Gorham, Maine on the 10th day of September of 1862. He states that he was born in Scarborough, Maine and was age of 28, 5ft. 9 1/2inches tall, dark complexion, black eyes, and dark hair. He was discharged on May 20, 1863 at "Philada, Pa" hospital, he had been injured on Guard Duty at Arlington Heights, VA. He fractured his right femur, when he fell on Right Knee, in the dark.
His 2nd wife was Mary Boynton and they married at Buxton, Maine on July 4, 1874 by Rev. Jack Smith, and she had not been previously married. They had no children that lived. She received a widow's pension, which ended at her death December 8, 1917 in Buxton, Maine.
His 1st marriage, to Eliza S. Weeman of Standish, had ended in Divorce on February 11, 1873. (Supreme Judicial Court Records for York Co., Vol. 30, pgs 50-51). Listed two children: Edward B. Hanson born November 8, 1857 and Howard A.(H.) Hanson born February 18, 1860.
