Mary E. Alcox
---Mary E. Alcox, age 84, a lifelong Marshall resident, died Thursday, March 12, 1987 at Oaklawn Hospital. She had been admitted there that day from the Miller Foster Care Home on High Street.
---Miss Alcox was born Dec. 14, 1902 in Marshall at 626 W. Michigan Avenue. She resided at the Michigan Avenue address all of her life until recent years when she became a resident at the Miller Care Home on High Street. She was born to Charles H. and Mary (Butler) Alcox. After her mother's death, she was raised by her father and step-mother, the former Catherine Conway.
---Miss Alcox was secretary for the late attorney James Mackey, and also for the late attorney Robert Ward. She held that position from 1920 until she retired in 1973.
---Miss Alcox was a member of St. Mary Catholic church, the Rosary and Altar Society, and also was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America.
---Surviving are her cousins, Virginia and Elizabeth Cronin both of Marshall.
---Friends may call at the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home where a rosary will be recited Friday evening at 8 p.m. Funeral mass will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church with the Rev. James Barrett officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary cemetery. Friends who wish may leave a mass in her memory. Assistance with memorials is available at the funeral home.
