EUGENE DIEM

Death of a Former Prominent Batavianin Seattle, Wash.

Eugene Diem, formerly of Albion and Batavia, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Dean White of Seattle, Wash, yesterday. He had been in failing health for some time.

Mr. Diem, who was formerly a prominent Batavian, was born in Albion about 65 years ago. As a young man he engaged in the monument business in that village, later moving to Batavia, where he engaged in the same business at No. 54 Jackson street. Mr. Diem moved from Batavia to Buffalo about 25 years ago, to become associated in the clothing business of the Desbecker company of that city, and had lived there until last spring, when he and Mrs. Dean went to Seattle to make their home with their daughter. While in Batavia, Mr. Diem lived at No. 55 Ellicott avenue.

Besides his wife, who was formerly Miss Adah Dye of Albion and daughter, Mr. Diem leaves a sister, Mrs. Charles Osterhout of Buffalo. Funeral services were held from the home of Mrs. White in Seattle this afternoon.
