Vestal - Arthur W. (Bud) Bale of Vestal, N. Y. age 95 passed away November 27, 2018. He was predeceased by his wife Eileen and sons William and Michael. He is survived by Son Terrance and Daughter in law Evelyn, Apalachin, NY, Daughter in law Rita Bale, Belleair Bluffs, FL., Daughter in law Jo Ann Bale, Manasquan, NJ, sister Helen Lauko (Robert), Vestal, NY, seven Grandchildren, eleven Great Grandchildren, one Great Great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
He lived most of his adult life in Elmira and Vestal, NY and in retirement he spent much of his time in Florida. In all those years he was pleased with and very proud of his children and grandchildren and their achievements in life.
He retired after 50 years of Marketing and Management with IBM and Simplex.
He was a three year US Navy veteran and served two years across the South Pacific in WW11 on the Minesweeper USS Defense AM-317. He attended Harpur College and was a founding member of the Binghamton University Athletic Club. He was a longtime member of the Binghamton Country Cub, Club Med, PSL, FL and the Endicott Elks.
He officiated Intercollegiate Football Games across the country for over 30 years for the Eastern College Athletic Conference and Big East as an Official, Observer, TV Coordinator and ECAC Representative to the NCAA Rules Committee. He also served as an EAIFO President and was a Director for 20 years. He officiated several post season bowl games and was selected to work the Army-Navy game four times.
He was grateful to have had a long and healthy life and that his business and football activity offered opportunities to work for and with business and athletic administrators, coaches, players, officials and media people across the country for many years of his life.
A memorial Mass will be scheduled in the near future. Burial will be private at Vestal Memorial Cemetery, Vestal, NY.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Church, Vestal, NY.
