Death removed one of LaRue County's oldest landmarks last Friday morning and consigned to her last resting place an old lady who was respected and loved by all who knew her.
Mrs. Belinda B. Smith died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Sallie Cross of this place at 10 O'clock Friday morning, May 8, 1896. the funeral services were conducted at the Methodist Church by Rev. B. F. Orr, and the remains were interred in the old family burying ground, at Tonieville, on Saturday. Mrs. Smith was 82 years old and was born in LaRue county, when it was a part of Hardin County, and was a member of a highly respected and prominent family. Her maiden name was Read and she was a sister to Hon. W. B. Read, Gen. Henry E. Read, Col. Joe B. Read, all deceased, and Mr. J. Wesley Read, of Louisville, who is her only living brother.
Mrs. Smith was twice married; the first time to Mr. Thomas B. Twyman and the second time to Mr. Ansel Smith. She has five children - Mr. I. W. Twyman, Mr. John W. Twyman, Mr. L. T. Twyman, Mrs. S. Cross, all of this county and Mrs. Woodard of near Glendale.
For sixty years Mrs. Smith was a member of the Methodist Church and during those years her work for church interests proved that she was devoted to her Master's cause and the many Christian acts that she performed during life will cause her name to be cherished in the memory of her friends and acquaintances.
[This "old family burying ground" is located on the Lincoln Expressway (from Elizabethtown to Hodgenville) at the Tonnieville crossroads, on the farm owned by Willard Skaggs.]

Gravesite Details
All the Read family is listed on a four sided stone. There is a large newer stone that is face down and unable to be moved, believed to be for the Smith's. (Not on maps)
