James Reid "Jimmy" Alexander, 70, of 1100 Neal St. died December 28, 1995, at Wesley Long Hospital.

A Celebration of Life service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel, with inurnment in Guilford Memorial Park.

A native of Mecklenburg County, he was an active member of the U.S. Submarine veterans of World War II. He was founder and president of Carolina Signs Inc.

Survivors include his wife, Winnifred Alexander of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Betty Alexander, Wayne and Martha Alexander, all of Greensboro, Tony and Bonnie Alexander of Lexington; sisters, Margaret Rappe of Charlotte, Annie Holland of Love Valley, Rita Washam and Esther Harris, both of Long Beach and Betty Sue Moose of York, Va.; brother, George Alexander of Long Beach; six grandchildren and one great-grandson.
