Death of Mrs. Mary S. Green
Oldest Member of All Saints' Church Passes Away.
Mrs. Mary S. Green, widow of the late Meltiah B. Green, who died at her residence... aged 82 years, and our months, was a native of Worcester, where her ancestors for three generations, as well as those of her husband, have also lived.
She was born here, Sept. 7, 1813, daughter of Artemus Ward, register of deeds from 1821 to 1846, who was son of Asa Ward, the latter being son of Daniel Ward, one of the first settlers of Worcester as far back as 1720, whose residence was on Main street opposite the old common,...
Her husband, the late Meltiah B. Green, who died several years ago, was many years in company with his brother, the late James Green, in the apothecary business, and later they dissolved partnership, Meltiah B. started his own account in a drug store in Butman block, in company with the late James L. Burbank....
She was the last survivor but one, Mrs. William M. Bickford, of her father's large family.
Her mother was Elizabeth Phillips.
The late Daniel Ward, for many years searcher of records in the registry of deeds, was her brother.
Her only child, a son, Melbourne Green died about 20 years ago....
Age 82 years, 4 months.
