Marvin White, 71 (veteran)

Services for Marvin E. White, 71 of rural Fremont who died January 29, 1994 at Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha were Wednesday, February 2 at First Lutheran Church in Fremont. Rev. Mark Grorud and Rev. David Jensen officiated. Burial was in Memorial Cemetery in Fremont with military graveside rites conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 8332 and American Legion Post No. 71, both of Arlington.

Marvin E. White was born February 5, 1922 at St. Edward and moved to Fremont at age two.

He worked for Vienna Bakery before serving with the United States Army from December, 1942 to November, 1945 in Central Europe, Northern France, the Rhineland and Iceland. He then returned to Fremont and worked for Korshoj Lumber. He also worked at a fertilizer company at Mead and at Geo. A. Hormel Co., where he worked 35 years before retiring in 1984.

He was a member of First Lutheran church in Fremont, Hormel Retirees Club, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 200 of Fremont and Eagles Camping Club, Pathfinder Club, the Winnebago Club and was a lifetime member of Arlington Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 8332.

He married Bernice Schober October 15, 1942 in Papillion.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Bernice; three daughters, Sharon Wamsley of Clifton, West Virginia; Carolyn Throener of Dodge and Connie Meyer of Arlington; a son, Rodney of Signal Hill, California; three sisters, Ethel Hahn and Irene Echtenkamp, both of Fremont and Vera Ellison of Hooper and 10 grandchildren.

A memorial has been established to the church.
