To all friends herewith the sad news that it has pleased Almighty God to take from our side my darling wife and our good mother and grandmother Gesche Ackermann, nee Schuster She was born on November 7, 1856 in Aurich-Oldendorf, Ostfriesland and also baptized there. In the year 1865 she came with her parents to America, to Golden, Illinois. In 1868 she came to Gage County, Nebraska. On April 14, 1878 she was confirmed and on April 28 she entered into matrimony with John Ackerman. A good six months ago she started to become ill, and in the last seven weeks her condition worsened. On the morning of June 7, she went home. She was 69 years and 7 months. She leaves behind her grieving husband, two sons, Menne and Harm Ackerman, four daughters, Frauke Buhr, Gretje Buhr, Johanna Huls, and Gesche Ackerman. Seven years ago when her daughter-in-law died, she took in her three children and replaced the mother to the best of her ability. Others mourning her are two brothers, a sister, three sons-in-law and 18 grandchildren. The funeral took place on June 10 with Pastor Reents conducting the service. Text Psalm 94: 19.
