Jacob Hughes and Rebecca Josephine Merrell were married Nov. 13, 1878, in Jennings Co., Indiana. Their children were Daniel Hughes, Jessie (Hughes) Rogers, and Lauretta (Hughes) Voyles.
Jacob Hughes moved to Montrose Co., Colorado with his family, about 1906, in hopes of restoring his failing health. They returned to Indiana after 1910. His death in 1921 was sudden, but was attributed to complications of diabetes.
