James Chason Cassels

November 30, 1956 - January 5, 2011

James Chason Cassels, 54, of Cairo, GA, passed away on Wednesday, January 5, 2011, at his home. The family will have a memorial service at a later date.

Mr. Cassels was born on November 30, 1956, in Joliet, IL, to the late James Cassels and Marion Newkirk Cassels. He was an accomplished athlete in high school participating in swimming and tennis. After graduation from high school, he moved to Tallahassee to attend Florida State University where he obtained his Bachelor of Business Administration degree. After leaving FSU, he worked with Wight's Nurseries in Cairo. Mr. Cassels moved to the family farm in 1995 and started his own business, Wolf Bay Nursery.

Survivors include: brothers and sisters-in-law, John Newkirk and Kelley Cassels of Whigham, GA, Thomas Allen and Liezl Cassels of Tallahassee, FL; step-mother, Alice Stafford of Cashiers, NC; nieces and nephews, Kaitlin Cassels, Lauren Cassels, Sam Cassels, all of Whigham, GA, Luke Cassels of Tallahassee, FL; cousins, Marnie, Anne and Ralph Newkirk, James and Kenneth Blodgett, Charles and Suzanne Johnson.

Mr. Cassels was preceded in death by: parents, James and Marion Cassels; and a brother, Scott Allen Cassels.
