Stewart Caldwell was born in Delaware Township, Mercer County, Pennsylvania. He married Jean Beatty Abt.1849 in Hadley, Mercer County, Pennsylvania. Stewart and Jane had six children. Jane died in 1886.
Stewart then married Nancy Carnahan in 1868 in Mercer County, Illinois. Stewart and Nancy had one son, Joseph Ira Caldwell born in Illinois. After Stewart died in 1878, Nancy and her young son moved to Nebraska, Pawnee County. Nancy bought a half section(310 acres). Later she sold half of the 310 acres to her son Joseph Ira Caldwell. Nancy died in 1896; she had willed her 310 acres to her son Joseph. Joseph started his family on that farm.
Joseph is my grandfather.
