Captain Edward Eells was the son of John Eells, who moved from Hanover, MA to Camden in 1800, the year of his marriage to Lucy Thorndike. The Captain was the grandson of Capt. Robert Lenthal Eells, a Revolutionary War patriot, and Ruth Copeland Eells, a Mayflower descendant (Alden).
