Excerpt from New York Wills and Probate Records, Essex County, 1903, Page 446:

Edward E. Wilson's last will and testament, signed April 29, 1903, includes the following instructions to his son and heir, John M. Wilson:

"He shall erect at my grave in Mount Hope Cemetery in the town of Ticonderoga, where I desire to be buried, a soldier's monument to cost at least $300.00 above the base, on which shall be placed in a suitable manner, the following inscription: Edward E. Wilson, 1st Wis. Cavalry, Freemont's Guard, 1861-1865. Born Jan 8, 1837, Died --------.
And that he shall erect the said monument within a reasonable time after my decease. I desire to be buried on the north side of the said monument. The base of the monument is to be five feet square and five feet deep. My grave is not to be over three and one half feet deep, with a drain leading to the base of the monument."
