MANSFIELD - LEONARD A. ABERTS, SR., 71, died Friday morning, December 24, 2004, at his home after an extended illness.

He was born June 5, 1933, in Welston, Ohio, to Harry C. and Eva M. (Sams) Aberts. He retired from Consolidated Freight Company where he worked as an accountant.

He is survived by his wife, Linda (Richardson) Aberts; son and daughter-in-law, Leonard Jr. and LaLani Aberts of Edinboro, Pennsylvania; two daughters and a son-in-law, Sherri Aberts and Jenny and Jeff Lozier, all of Mansfield; nine grandchildren, Justin, Nick, Raychel, Devyn, Aimee' and Adrain Aberts, Shelby, Dakota and Anna Lozier; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Harry J. Aberts of Mansfield, John and Doris Aberts of Florida and Melvin and Paulette Aberts of Alabama; and close friends, Jeff Frank, Amber and Ryan Frank, all of Mansfield.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Harold and Carl and sister, Anna Downard.

Friends may call at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, Wednesday, December 29 from 5-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home, officiated by the Rev. Bruce Copley. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Memorial Park.
