Karen Sue (Raker)



Karen Sue Stinson, age 70, of Swanton, Ohio, passed away following a brief illness, Monday, May 20, 2013, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. She was born March 2, 1943, in Swanton, Ohio to Floyd and Ruth (Weigel) Raker. She married her high school sweetheart, Glenn Stinson, on October 31, 1960. Karen worked as a cashier at A&P, was a rural Toledo Blade newspaper carrier for 20 years, and worked in the Swanton Local Schools cafeteria. She also sold real estate for five years.

Karen loved playing BINGO at the Swanton American Legion Hall, trying her luck playing the slot machines at the casino, fishing, golfing, and bowling. She and Glenn enjoyed wintering in Leesburg, Florida.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 52 years, Glenn; children, Wendy Stinson and Barry (Lori) Stinson; grandchildren, Jordan (Jessica) Stinson, Kaitlyn, Jake, and Hannah Stinson; brother, Roger (Grace) Raker; sisters-in-law, Shirley (Randy) Mastin and Arvella Dickman; brothers-in-law, Bobby (Sandy) Stinson and Jerry (Sharon) Stinson; as well as several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Ruth Raker; brothers-in-law, Ronald Stinson and James Dickman; nephew, Matthew Raker, and niece, Janet Stinson.

Family and friends may visit Friday, May 24, 2013, from 2 to 9 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton. Visitation will continue Saturday, May 25, 2013, from 12 (noon) to 4 p.m. in the funeral home, where services celebrating Karen's life will begin at 4 p.m., with Rev. Donna Stutzman officiating. Interment will follow at a later date at Raker Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Swanton American Legion.
