RECEIVE WORD OF DEATH OF PVT.CLYDE SLAYTON SATURDAY
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Slayton of Gilmore City received word Saturday November 20, of the death of their son, Pvt. Clyde Slayton, 21,while on desert maneuver in Arizona. More complete details are not known at this time .
Private Slayton is survived by his parents, two brothers, Pvt. Carol Slayton stationed in Hawaii and Harry of Davenport and a sister, Beryl of Atlantic.
He attended Gilmore City public school and, was graduated with the class of 1939. Pvt. Slayton attended Iowa State Teachers College at Cedar Falls two years. He was inducted into the United States Army in June of 1942. He received his Basic training at Camp Rucker, Alabama, where he was stationed until his company was sent to the desert for maneuvers in June of this year.
