Edward E. Genet
Edward E. Genet, 71. of 822 1st st., SE, veteran of the Spanish-American was, died suddenly Tuesday afternoon of a stroke at his residence. His widow, Mrs. Addie Genet; two sons, Oscar Genet, of Lock Haven, PA, and Chester Genet, at home; two daughter, Mrs. George P. Geibel and Mrs. Samuel Reinoehl, of Massillon; three brothers, Frank and George Genet, of Pittsburgh, and Victor Genet, of Canton; a stepbrother, Albert Wilson, of Glenmont; a sister, Mrs. Louis Vogel, of Glenmont; and three grandchildren survive. A native of Fredericksburg, Mr. Genet came to this city 21 years ago. He formerly lived at Mt. Eaton. He was a watchman at the Ohio Public Service Co., for a number of years, retiring 10 years ago. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. He served in the Spanish-American war as a private with Company H, Eighth Regiment, Infantry of Ohio Volunteers and took part in the expedition to Santiago,Cuba. Semi-military funeral services will be held Thursday at 9:30 a. m. at the Paquelet funeral home in charge of Massillon Post No. 3124, Veterans of Foreign Wars. The Rev. William Fitzgerald, of St. Joseph's Catholic church will officiate. Interment will be made in St. Joseph's cemetery. The body will remain at the funeral home.
