Darrell William Jackson 1928 ~ 2008 Darrell William Jackson, 80, passed away peacefully of natural causes August 27, 2008 at his home in Sandy, Utah. Darrell was born July 23, 1928 to John William and Jesse Pearl Jackson in Millcreek, Utah. He grew up on the farm and learned how to work. His lifelong work was that of homebuilder. His monument is the thousands of homes in Salt Lake and Tooele County that he constructed. His work is seen nearly everywhere you travel in the Salt Lake Valley. Darrell's integrity, fairness and generosity are legendary. He especially enjoyed building homes people could afford. The quality was top notch and the price fair. He also spent many years working with hundreds of boys in W.B.B.A. (little league style) baseball, winning two "Little World Series." He worked to build confidence, while teaching skills, fun and sportsmanship. Darrell was a member of the LDS church, serving in many capacities including a mission to Alberta, Canada and a bishopric. He served in the Army Reserve. He served his country, his community, his family and his God. He is preceded in death by his wife Janell Hammond, two infant children (Jeff and Paige Jackson), and three sisters and two brothers. Survived by first wife Peggy B. Jackson, his sister Ellen (Richard) Nygaard, daughters Penny (Cort) Lambson, Paula (Rex) Halbeisen, Jana (Ron) Green, son John D. (Carol) Jackson, 19 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. His many friends and family are welcome to pay their respects at a public viewing Monday, September 1, 2008 at the Mountain View 10th Ward, 8435 South 2700 West in West Jordan from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at the same location at 11 a.m. There will also be a viewing one hour prior to the services.
