Sedan- Beulah Ione Petty, age 98, of Sedan passed away Friday, May 24, 2013 at the Pleasant Valley Manor in Sedan.


She was born April 28, 1915 in rural Lowe, Kansas to Thomas William Banning and Lettie Blanche (Sanborn) Banning.


She attended school in the Lowe community until the eighth grade before moving to Sedan. She married Fred Petty in Sedan. They made their home in Chautauqua county most
of there life. She was preceded in death by her husband on September 3, 1963. She worked for Dr. Walker for many years cleaning his office until her retirement.


She enjoyed embroidery, reading her paper and Capper's Weekley, and she also liked going to dances.


She is survived by her three daughters; Delora Spurlock of Sedan, Kansas, Marilyn Huffman and husband Deloyn of Gardner, Kansas, and Sylvia Bing and husband James of Latham, Kansas; one brother, Wesley Banning and wife Virginia of Howard, Kansas; eleven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, seven sisters, Elnor Banning, Thelma Sanders, Neva Jean Sanders, Lois Petty, Glodene Sanders, and Treva Gentry.


Friends and Family may call on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Sedan. A graveside service will be held at
2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at the Greenwood Cemetery in Sedan with Pastor John Warring of the First Christian Church officiating.


The family has suggested memorials to the Sedan Area Ems or the Ronald McDonald House and can be left with the David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 209 N. Douglas, Sedan, Kansas 67361.
