Elsie Jane Barr, 83, of Pondsville Road, Smithsburg, Md., passed away Friday, May 24, 2013, at Fahrney-Keedy Memorial Home in Boonsboro, Md.

Born Aug. 1, 1929, in Belleville, Ill., she was the daughter of the late Hubert Z. and Bernice E. (Hemmer) Ford.

She was employed by Highland View Academy as the business office manager and treasurer.

She was a member of Willow Brook Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Boonsboro.

She is survived by:
her husband, Martin Irving Barr Jr.;
daughter, Donna Jean Barr and husband, Gary Hibberd;
son, Dennis Wayne Barr;
daughter, Ruth Darlene Milam and husband, Glen Wesley;
granddaughters,
Deonna Sawvel Rucker,
Devonne Sawvel Cooper and husband, Sean, and
Sidney Milam;
grandsons,
Don Sawvel and wife, Adrian, and
Tyler Milam;
great-granddaughter, Victoria Rucker;
great- grandsons,
Ian Rucker and
Lucas Sawvel; and
sisters,
Myrtle Pohle and
Kathleen Miracle.

Services will be Thursday, May 30, 2013, at 11 a.m. at J.L. Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg, with Pastor Zell Ford officiating.

Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown, Md.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
