Patricia Abbey, 26, who teaches at Genoa, was killed Sunday afternoon, when a horse fell on her, while riding in a barrel race at the Blue Valley Wranglers Horse Show at Fairbury.
Reports were that she lived not quite an hour after the accident.
Miss Abbey is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dale M. Abbey. She had won thirteen firsts and was queen of the Wahoo Rodeo this past summer and was Ak-Sar-Ben Rodeo queen in 1961. An expert horsewoman, she had been riding in rodeos and shows for nine years.
The Abbey family live on a farm near Belgrade and are well known in this community.
