SAUK CITY - Dennis E. Bender passed away Friday, June 10, 2005, at St. Marys Hospital in Madison. He was born in Sauk Prairie on April 11, 1957, to Harvey and Ruth (Huerth) Bender. Dennis grew up in the Sauk Prairie area and graduated from Sauk Prairie High School in 1975. Dennis went to the University of Wisconsin Center at Baraboo for two years. He then went to the University of California, Riverside and graduated with degrees in Bio-Chemistry and Chemistry. He also did graduate work related to engineering, so close to math and physics degrees. After college he moved back to Sauk Prairie and worked with his brother Mark in land development projects. Dennis was involved with several committees and planning commissions including the Sauk County Board, Sauk Prairie School Board, and Sauk City Village Board. Survivors include his parents, Harvey and Ruth Bender, of Sauk City; his brother, Mark and Cindy Bender, of North Freedom; a niece, Bridgette and Wade Reiner of North Freedom; and other family and friends. He was preceded in death by a infant sister Mary. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2005, at 1 p.m. at the HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME. Burial will follow in the Sauk City Cemetery. Friends may call on the family from 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred.
