Dorothy Kersey Valentine age 98, formerly of Middleburg passed away at her son's home in Sanderson Monday, May 20, 2013. She was born on March 10, 1915 in Lakeland, Georgia to the late George and Minnie (Everett) Taggart, and has been a long time resident of the Middleburg area moving from Macon, GA in 1935. She was a member of the First Black Creek Baptist Church and was a retired Nurses Aid. Mrs. Valentine was preceded in death by her first husband of 35 years J.E. Kersey, her 2nd husband, Glenn Valentine, Jr.; sons, Benjamin Calvin Kersey, Michael Clifton "Dickie" Kersey, James Edward Kersey, Jr., two infant sons, one infant daughter, and one daughter in law, Nadine Kersey. Survivors are two sons; Douglas Kersey, his wife Darlene and Jack Kersey; three daughters in law, Rose Kersey, Sandy Kersey and Geraldine Kersey; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great- great grandchildren. Viewing for Mrs. Valentine will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 from 6 -8 p.m. in the Helm-Gallagher Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 23, 2013 in the First Black Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Bobby Register, and Rev. Charlie Hunt officiating. Burial will follow at the First Black Creek Cemetery.
