Glen E. Burk, 78, of Wausau, passed away Sunday, July 10, 2005, at his home.
Glen was born Jan. 29, 1927, in Wausau, son of the late Elmer and Elsie (Falk) Burk. He married Dianne Dolan on June 26, 1954, in Pine City, MN.
Prior to retiring, he worked at Kraft Foods for more than 35 years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean War. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed taking fishing trips to Canada every year. He also enjoyed traveling, woodworking, taking walks in the woods, snowshoeing and deer hunting with his brother, Roger.
Survivors include his former wife and best friend, Dianne Burk of Wausau; three daughters, Lori Burk, Jayne (Kenneth) Dombrowski and Barbara Mallum, all of Wausau; his brother, Roger (Darlene) Burk of Wausau; and two sisters, Joyce Radant and Joan Burk-Miller, both of Wausau; five grandchildren, Anthony Burk, Kelly, Katie and Stephanie Mallum and Cory Guss; and seven nieces and nephews, Susie, Curtis, Pam, Steve, Mark, Jodi and Shawn. He will also be missed by a special friend, Margaret Haidvogl of Oshkosh. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant brother, Warren; brother-in-law, Harold Radant; and niece, Julie Radant.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 14, 2005, at Wesley United Methodist Church in Wausau. The Rev. Samuel Royappa will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery in Wausau. The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Helke Funeral Home in Wausau and again from 10 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at the church.
