He came from a family of boot and shoe manufacturers, which trade he followed before and after the Civil War. He enlisted in the 121st New York Volunteer Infantry in the town of Mohawk, Herkimer County, New York. He was elected 1st Liet under Captain John D. Fish of Company D. He resigned on 22 March 1863.

Delos was commissioned not elected to 1st lt. 121st Regiment was consolidated following the Fredricksburg and the mud march, following losses. Delos later received a commission as adjutant in the New York National Guard during the Civil War. I have his commissioning and discharge certificates from the war. I'm the grandson of Allega Kenyon, his granddaughter by Earl Henry.
