West Lebanon, N.H. — Dean A. Hutchinson, 80, died Sunday, June 2, 2013, at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H.

He was born Nov., 26, 1932, in Littleton, Mass. a son of the late Alton H. and Mary (Kimball) Hutchinson. He grew up in West Lebanon and Lebanon, where he was known as an entrepreneur, running several small businesses while in school. Dean graduated from Lebanon High School Class of 1952 and then went on to graduate from the University of New Hampshire Class of 1956. After finishing his schooling he worked for several different people before going to work as a Highway Technician for the State of New Hampshire in 1961, retiring after a 37 year career. Dean was married to Sandra Guyer in White River Jct., Vt. on Oct. 15, 1966.

Dean was very active in the community including the West Lebanon Congregational Church, where he was a Deacon, served on the Board of Trustees, the Education Committee and helped establish the Easter Breakfast, a member of the Lebanon Elks Lodge # 2099, a member of the Masonic Franklin Lodge F & AM # 6 in Lebanon and a 32nd Degree Shriner of the ALEPPO Temple in Boston, Mass. Dean also had a love for children and would play Santa every year at several different locations. He also had a joy for skiing and competed in the ski jump and cross country skiing and was the manager of his high school ski club. He loved playing Cribbage with his friends, especially Jack and Pauly. He also had a joy for antique cars and was a judge at the car show in Stowe, Vt. for several years and had a collection of antique model cars at his home, attending antique auctions and a love of history. He will be remembered by his many friends for his extreme wit and dry sense of humor and as someone who never said a bad word about anyone and never complained no matter how bad things got.

Dean was predeceased by a granddaughter Raven Marie LeMere.

He is survived by his wife Sandra of West Lebanon; a daughter Lucinda Smith of White River Jct., Vt.; a sister, Lois H. Woodward of Wellesley, Mass., whom he dearly loved; four grandchildren, Anthony Hutchinson, Jed and Elias LeMere and Rylee Smith; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Dean's family would like to especially thank all of his caregivers, the nurses on 3 West and Dr. Brooke Herdon for all they did for Dean.

At his request there will be no calling hours. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the Olivet Baptist Church in West Lebanon with burial following in the West Lebanon Cemetery. Ricker Funeral Home in Lebanon is in charge of arrangements.
