Anna Mary was the first of eight children born to Samuel and Roseanna B (Gerdner/Gardner) Snyder. About 1855 her family moved from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, to Wayne County, Indiana, where she married David L. Bowman July 6, 1868. They resided at East Germantown (later known as Pershing), Indiana, and had five children, one of whom died young. Late in life, as a widow, Anna lived in California with her daughter Florence Bliss.
