A Seneca Crash Fatal To Six

Seneca, Kan. (AP) — Two cars crashed almost head on today killing six persons and injuring two others.

The accident occurred on U. S. Highway 36 about 3 miles cast of Seneca in northeast Kansas.

The dead have been identified as Mack Henry Hansen, 49, driver of one of the cars, of (4408 Palo Verde) Lakewood, Calif.; Hansen's wife, Phyllis Acker Hansen, 47; Dale H. Acker, 47, of Greenfield, Iowa, Mrs. Hansen's brother, and Mrs. Margaret Acker, 36, also of Greenfield, wife of Wayne Acker, another brother of Mrs. Hansen's.

Wayne Acker was hospitalized at Seneca with a leg fracture and other injuries.

Donald Acker, aged 3, son of Margaret and Wayne Acker, escaped with only bruises.

The others killed were Urie Smirl, about 51, driver of the second car, and Lewis M. Thompson, about 75, both of Seneca.

The state highway patrol said it understood that the Hansen and Acker families were, en route to Abilene, Kan., to visit relatives.

Cause of the accident had not been determined.
