She graduated from high school in Grand Rapids and then moved to Cadillac where she had been employed at BF Goodrich and also had worked at Milliken's in Cadillac for many years. Mrs. Hill was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church and circle # 5 there and also did spiritual care for the church such as bringing communion to patients. She was a very active member of the Mercy Hospital Auxiliary for over 20 years. Family was a big thing for her and she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, traveling and baking.
Survivors include her children: James (Ruth) Hill, Thomas (Cyd) Hill all of Davisburg, MI, Pat Kelley and Bonny Vermeulen both of Cadillac; 11 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a son, DeWayne N. Hill in 1999, a brother, Donald Lockwood and three sisters: Theresa Morgan, Bernie Meidema, and Alice Ann Long
A Memorial Mass will be held 10:00 AM Monday, June 3, 2013 at St. Ann Catholic Church in Cadillac with Msgr. Francis J. Murphy as celebrant. Her final resting place will be Mount Carmel Cemetery in Cadillac. Friends may meet the family from 4-7 PM Sunday at the Peterson Funeral Home in Cadillac where the rosary will be prayed at 6:30 PM.
