George Thomas "Tom" Cave of Houston passed peacefully into the arms of his Savior Saturday, June 1, 2013. Tom is survived by his beloved bride of nearly 59 years, Henri Alice Wright Cave, two daughters, Karen Davis and husband Charlie of Houston, Kathy Wells and husband Mark of Navasota; granddaughters Jessica Lawrence and husband Allen, Stephani Baenen, Elizabeth Davis, Mary Davis, and Allyson Davis; great-grandchildren Cash Lawrence, Marley Lawrence, and Kenzi Stewart; and sister Patty Ruth "Winkie" Cody and husband Gerald of Mabank. He is also survived by Henri's sister Sybil Hanson, sisters-in-law Wilna Cave, Elaine Nalls, Net Cave, Violet Cave, Catherine Cave, Cindy Cave, and Bertha Wright, numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents Robert Joseph Cave and Susie Lorena Minor Cave, brothers James, Robert "Bub," Felix "Bit," Jack, Temple, and Dan; sisters Maxine Hopkins and husband Roy Sam and Pauline "Polly" Reed and husband Thomas; two nieces, Sue and Belinda; and nephew Paul. He also shares Heaven with granddaughter, Rebecca Kathleen Davis, who is so happy to be held again in her Papaw's loving arms.Tom was born February 9, 1926 in Kaufman County, Texas, eighth of ten children born to Robert Joseph Cave and Susie Lorena Minor Cave. "Tomboy" as his family called him, grew up in a loving family in the Oak Grove community near Kaufman, Texas, where he attended church at Wilson Chapel. During World War II, Mr. Cave entered the armed forces as a soldier of the Army's 86th Infantry Blackhawk Division beginning his term of service in Brussels after the Battle of the Bulge and continuing through France, Germany, and Austria. After victory was declared in Europe, Tom and his fellow soldiers were reassigned to the Pacific Arena. Upon arrival in the Marshall Islands, they learned that Japan had surrendered. The 86th, which was to have participated in the invasion of Japan, was diverted to the Philippines where Tom guarded Japanese prisoners. Upon his returned to the US, he was honorably discharged at Fort Bliss.

On November 6, 1954, Mr. Cave married the love of his life, Henri Alice Wright at Gaston Avenue Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas. That December, he joined the Duncan Coffee Company which eventually became Maryland Club Coffee, the flagship product of the Coca-Cola Foods Company. During his tenure, Tom and Henri lived in Dallas, San Antonio, Houston, and Chattanooga, TN. During Tom's successful career in the coffee business, he was elevated to the position of vice president, managing national accounts including Hilton, Marriott, and Denny's, and traveled extensively throughout the US. He was instrumental in introducing Bunn commercial coffee brewers to the market. He retired from Coca-Cola Foods in 1989 with 35 years of service and from Proctor & Gamble in 1991, as Vice President of Sales & Marketing.

Tom was involved in numerous activities including golf, travel, and boating. He and Henri joined Raveneux Country Club as charter members in 1979, and were members of Bentwater Golf and Yacht Club on Lake Conroe. During the last 40 years in Houston, they were members of Tallowood Baptist Church, eventually moving their membership to Champion Forest Baptist Church; he served as a deacon at both. Tom spent his early retirement years playing golf, boating on Lake Conroe, traveling extensively overseas and in the US, and volunteering with Meals on Wheels; however, his favorite pastime was spending time with Henri, his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and a lifetime of close friends. He was easy to love and they miss his smiling face, wonderful hugs, sweet disposition, and caring nature. He is remembered for his strength of character, extraordinary charisma, love for country, and unquestioning faith in his Savior.

The family extends their extreme gratitude to Jay Ward, George Keys, Faburn Murray, Bob Craig, and Roger Manuel for committing time to take him to radiation treatments; to the MD Anderson doctors, nurses and CNAs, with special thanks to Dr. Michelle Ludwig and Oneika Alexander Vantrelle-felder; to the nurses, caregivers and management at Autumn Leaves and A*Med Community Hospice, who attended him in the last few weeks of his life. We can never express suitably in words how much you mean to this family.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from six o'clock in the afternoon until eight o'clock in the evening on Tuesday, the 4th of June at Klein Funeral Home at 16131 Champion Forest Drive Spring, TX 77379.
