"OBITUARY- [Communicated] - Benjamin G Baird was born in Mead township, Crawford county, Pa, July 5, 1815, and lived in the county all his life, the last twenty-one years having been spent in Titusville. A man of simple tastes and exalted virtue, he was respected by all who knew him and sincerely loved by those best acquainted with his manly life. Sixty-four years ago he was converted and united with the M E church, in which he at one time held an exhorter's license and delivered many a stirring exhortation. He has ever been a faithful and consistent follower of his blessed Master throughout a long and useful life. In April, 1847, he was united in marriage with Miss Lucinda Daniels, who survives him. He leaves seven children: J K Baird, J W Baird, Mrs P DeLand, Mrs James Redmond, Mrs Joseph Eason, Mrs Anna Hartwell and Mrs D Thompson, all residents of Titusville with the exception of Mrs P DeLand, who resides near Cambridge, this county, and is the only child of a former wife. While the pangs of parting are sharp and his absence will be bitterly felt by loved ones, their sorrow will be sweetened by the abundant evidence he left that he had a hope that reached beyond the river of death, and his last words were those of a true Christian, conscious of his acceptance with his heavenly Father and serene in the assurance of a blissful eternity with the Saviour he loved. 'Life hath its cares, and griefs their vigils keep; But, when 'tis done, He giveth His beloved sleep.'"
(Titusville Herald, Nov 8, 1898, p.4)

"BREVITIES - The funeral of Benjamin G Baird will take place at 2 o'clock this afternoon from the family residence, 95 Petroleum street. The interment will be at Woodlawn cemetery."
