Gail was a member of the Fairmont Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He was a welder and worked in maintenance in the coal mines for over 40 years. He was a member of the Coon Hunters Association of Bunners Ridge and Mannington.
Gail is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Butcher; children, Clinton Butcher and his wife Deborah of Waynesburg, PA, Steven Butcher and his wife Marie of Rexburg, ID, Colleen Gladwell and her husband Richard of Clarksburg; grandchildren, Desna and Ryan Aspy of Knoblesville, IN, Lindsey and Matt Williams of Washington, PA, Adrienne and Daniel Sturgeon of Westerville, OH, Kasey and Kaleb Snell of Idaho Falls, ID, Jacob and Megan Butcher of Morgantown, WV, Rodney and Jennifer Butcher of Gainsville, VA, Becky and Ian Luke of Sugar City, ID, Michael Butcher of St. Louis Park, MN, Ben and Katie Butcher of Shelley, ID, Nathan and Mandie Gladwell of Star Tannery, VA, Sariah and Ben Waldron of Bridgeport, WV; 28 great-grandchildren; sisters, Della Butcher and Almira Watson; and step children, John Jett, Jr. and Kathy Jett, Susan Jett and Michael Loss, Kay and Bim Martin, Charlie and Lori Jett and Connie and Jimmy Haun.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Virginia Henderson Butcher; a grandson, Ammon Neil Gladwell; a step daughter, Alice Long; brothers, Flava Butcher, Willie Butcher, and Orville Butcher; and sisters, Beatrice Hamrick and Velma Currence.
The family will receive friends at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Avenue in Fairmont, on Sunday, March 24, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Monday, March 25, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. The funeral service will be Monday at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. with President Bruce Hunter officiating. Interment will follow at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Enterprise.
