Spurgeon Ollie Coker, 71, of 2219 Wallace St., retired accountant, died today in Ft. Jackson Hospital.
He was born in Turbeville son of the late Adolphus and Sarah Jane Etheridge Coker. He was a member of Main Street Methodist Church.
Surviving is his widow, Mrs. Isabel Gibbons Coker, two daughters, Mrs. Joseph W. (Vauda) Bird of Columbia and Mrs. Ollie Mae (William R.) Scaife of Savannah, Ga., two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Young of Gastonia, N. C., and Mrs. Sue Floyd of Turbeville, and five grandchildren, Jan and Joe Bird of Columbia, Billy, Robin and David Lee all of Savannah.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 3 p.m., in Dunbar Funeral Home, Gervais Street Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Peden G. Curry and the Rev. A. B. Ferguson. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
Nephews serving as active pallbearers will be Leslie Gibbons, Delbert Gibbons, Robert Gibbons, Cleo Coker, Durant Coker and Lyde Hicks.
Friends may call at the residence and the funeral home.
