Mr. Wm. Grothaus, a respected citizen of New Bremen, died on Tuesday evening after a many year long illness with asthma along with recent liver problems, at the age of 61. Mr. Grothaus was held in high esteem by his fellow citizens as evidenced by his various terms as Mayor of New Bremen and other public offices. He was a prominent member of the local Odd-Fellows Lodge and was buried under their auspices. He is survived by his widow and 8 (mostly adult) children. The burial will take place on Friday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock from the residence to Lock 3 (Willow Grove) Cemetery.
