William Peay, of San Francisco, a native of Floyd county and a former resident of Lexington, Ky., died last Thursday at the home of his brother, James Peay, 2306 East Spring street. For several years he had been living in San Francisco, and he had been visiting relatives in New Albany and Floyd county since last November. His death was due to an attack of grip after an illness of five or six weeks. Mr. Peay was 58 years old and was born and reared in Floyd county. After a residence of a number of years in Lexington, Ky., he moved to San Francisco several years ago. Besides his wife he is survived by six children. Mrs. Peay and a daughter were on their way to New Albany at the time of her husband's death. Besides his brother, James Peay, he is survived by four sisters, Mrs. Anna Thompson and Mrs. Martha Smith, of New Albany; Mrs. Mayme Crozier, of Evansville, and Mrs. Lydia Vestal, of Indianapolis. Mr. Peay was a member of the Knights of Pythias and Odd Fellows' Lodges in Lexington, Ky. - Public Press 06 Mar 1917
