Man killed, son critically injured in crash in Blades

BLADES - A 43-year-old Seaford man was killed and his son critically injured Saturday night in a single-vehicle crash on Concord Road (East High Street) in Blades.

According to state police spokesman Cpl. Gary Fournier, Javier Aceves was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash that occurred about 8:43 p.m. in the 8000 block of Concord Road (SR 20) about a quarter mile from U.S. 13.

Cristopher Aceves, 5, was initially taken to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital and was transferred to A.I. DuPont Hospital.

Both victims were ejected when the 1996 Nissan Maxima Mr. Aceves was driving left the roadway and struck several trees, which tore the roof and driver's side doors off the vehicle, Cpl. Fournier said.

Cristopher Aceves was in a rear passenger seat but was not restrained, said Cpl. Fournier.

Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing their investigation into this incident. East High Street was closed for approximately three hours as the crash was investigated and cleared.
