He was the husband of Leona Virginia Dixon Castle, who died in 1991.
Born July 29, 1909, in Feagaville, he was a son of the late Harry Martin and Lillie Rebecca Lambert Castle.
Mr. Castle had been employed for many years with Lloyd Culler and, at his retirement in 1975, had been associated with Genstar Inc.
He was a life-long member of Trinity Evangelical and Reformed United Church of Christ, Adamstown, and a charter member of Carroll Manor Fire Company.
Mr. Castle was an avid gardener.
Surviving are one daughter, Brenda R. Keagan of Frederick; one son, Gerald Robert Castle Sr. and wife Patricia of Middletown; two sisters, Naomi Smith of Jefferson and Martha White of New Market; five grandchildren, Christine L. Stover and husband Christopher, Gerald R. Castle Jr. and wife Rita, Scott G. Castle and wife Mary Beth, Deanna L. Jezek and husband Dan, and Michael Castle and wife Kate; eight great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Castle was preceded in death by two brothers, Chester Castle and Eugene Castle.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 12, at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, at Trinity Evangelical and Reformed United Church of Christ, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the services on Saturday. The Rev. C. Bruce Wierks, former pastor of the church, will officiate.
Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Trinity Evangelical and Reformed United Church of Christ, 5603 Mountville Road, Adamstown, Md. 21710.
