MARIETTA, GA. — Mr. Donald Crane, 78, of 2843 Hitchcock Mill Run, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012 in the presence of his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Patricia Lenti-Crane.

Don was born in Waterbury on April 13, 1934, son of the late Alfred and Gertrude (Crane) Crane. He graduated from The Kent School and attended Boston College.

He is the former owner of the family business, Crane Equipment and Supply, which he ran for many years. After selling his company he continued with a career as a salesman for several companies over the next three decades.

He and his wife, Patricia, moved to Seattle, Wash. in 1989 and then to Boca Raton, Fla. for several years until settling to Georgia in 1999. Don retired in 1997.

He was an avid golfer and member of the Waterbury Country Club, where he was club champion and member of Indian Hill Country Club in Georgia. He was a lifetime member and former Exalted Ruler of the BPO Elks Club No. 265 in Waterbury.

He coached diving at the Waterbury YMCA and his dive team produced several state and regional champions. His hobby and passion was cooking gourmet meals for family and friends.

Besides his loving wife of 30 years, he leaves five sons, Jeffrey Crane and his wife Diane of Colorado, Timothy Crane and his wife Vicki of California, Kevin Crane and his wife Rose of Georgia, Donald Crane Jr. of South Carolina and Michael Crane and his wife Rebecca of Vermont; three daughters, Jeanne Blanchard of Florida, Patricia "Tricia" Yasmer of Waterbury, Margaret "Peggy" Calvani and her husband Chris of Massachusetts, and 22 grandchildren and seven greatgrandchildren.

Arrangements: Funeral Monday, 11 a.m. from Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home to Our Lady of Loreto Church for a Mass at 12 p.m. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Watertown. Calling hours 3 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Don's memory to: The Kent School, Don Crane, Class of 1953, P.O. Box 2006, Kent, CT 06757.
